WHAT IS HYPNOSIS AND IS IT SAFE?

Hypnosis is a state of focused consciousness. Your hypnotherapist will assist you in learning how to achieve this state by guiding you into it.  Once this has been achieved, you will then receive what are called hypnotic suggestions which enable you to use the power of hypnosis in your life to make the changes you desire.


Hypnosis is a natural safe state of mind that you spontaneously experience many times a day. For instance, you are in hypnosis when:

  • You find yourself day dreaming.
  • You are driving on a highway and you find yourself so focused in something in your mind that you missed your exit.
  • You are watching a movie and you are crying or getting scared or having any kind of emotions related to it.
  • You are looking for an object which is in your reach but you can not see it.

Hypnosis is safe, over 200 years of experience in the Western World and there have been no cases of anyone being hurt by hypnosis. The American Medical Association accepted and recognized hypnosis in 1958.
 

 WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy is the applied use of hypnosis.  Therapy can be defined as anything that is done to move someone toward health and wholeness. 
Thus, hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to help you move toward health and wholeness.

Hypnotherapy is also used to help you reach goals when nothing else has helped. 

THE MYTHS ABOUT HYPNOSIS-

A hypnotist has magical powers:
This is completely false. A hypnotist is an ordinary human being.

You can be hypnotized and do things against your will: Absolutely false. Nobody can be hypnotized against their will. You must be 100% cooperative in order to be hypnotized. Under Hypnosis you can choose to accept or reject any suggestions given to you by the hypnotist.

Only weak minded people can be hypnotized: False. The opposite is the truth. The more intelligent you are the easier is to hypnotize you. In certain cases of mental debility, hypnosis is impossible. You can be hypnotized if you want to.

Under hypnosis you are unconscious: Not true at all. Under Hypnosis you are awake and completely aware.

You can get stuck in Hypnosis: Completely false. Even if the hypnotist dropped dead after putting you in deep Hypnosis, you will either open your eyes after not hearing his voice for a while or you will slip into a brief sleep and awaken normally.

HOW MANY TIMES WILL I NEED TO SEE A HYPNOTHERAPIST?

Although sometimes people find that their issues are resolved with only one session, most people usually find that between 2-4 sessions are most effective.  A few may need up to 6 sessions to address their specific issues. This is dependent on the person and the issue.

It is my goal that your experience is positive and effective. During your initial consultation, I will evaluate your situation and if I do not feel that hypnosis will benefit you, I will tell you so.
